The Easter celebrations that have been held in Mompox since 1564 have yet to lose their luster. Processions loaded with religious images fill the streets of the town to remember the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the locals (referred to as momopsinos) decorate these images with touching fervor.
