Music is important to the people of Cesar and this has produced signs of affection like the Pedazo de acordeón (“A Piece of Accordion”) Monument, which the sculptor Gabriel Beltrán made in iron, bronze, and steel in memory of the first king of vallenato music, Alejandro Duran. The sculpture pays tribute to the essential instruments of vallenato: the guacharaca, the caja, and the accordion.
