One Hundred Years of Solitude, the iconic novel by Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez, comes to the small screen for the first time. One of the challenges of this adaptation was bringing each character of the book to life, capturing the essence that made them unforgettable. The cast features national talent, with some main characters portrayed by Colombians who have stood out on television over the years, while others make their debut on this medium, marking their entry into the small screen with this historic adaptation.
Finding the actors who would bring to life the cast of One Hundred Years of Solitude across different generations was a big challenge. In fact, the search spanned 11 cities and 32 towns across Colombia, with more than 10,000 profiles considered. An open online call was also made for those who would like to participate, without the need for prior acting experience. The magic of acting was achieved thanks to the novice actors who participated in three-month workshops focused on character design and script analysis, among other things. They also had the support of a coach during filming.
After an intense search process, we present the Colombian actors who will play the characters of the Buendía family. These are just a few of them. Discover how each one reflects the best of Colombian talent and, of course, how they give life to those characters we met in the pages of Gabo.

Coronel Aureliano Buendía
Since 2000, the Colombian actor has been working in productions such as Casados con hijos, La sucursal del cielo, Comando Élite, and Mil colmillos, as well as in films like Nadie sabe para quién trabaja, Pacífico, Aurora. He has also been part of the Colombian entertainment industry since he was 16.
Claudio Cataño takes on the role of Aureliano Buendía, the main character of the series. “Macondo and its multitude of characters, which I really feel like my own blood, are universal, but at the same time so unique, so Colombian, so beautifully tragic that it is impossible not to get caught in this world”, said the actor, excited to learn that he would be part of the series.

Úrsula Iguarán
Susana Morales is the Antioqueña dancer who stars as Úrsula Iguarán in the Netflix series One Hundred Years of Solitude . Susana is also part of other projects such as La Cordillera, an experimental film that showcases the beauty of Andean nature. She also continues to advance in her studies of performing arts where he has had the opportunity to work on several short films.
The task of playing Ursula was a challenge for Susana Morales, as she is one of the main characters in the famous novel. Úrsula is a complex and fascinating character who represents a strong, hardworking, intelligent, determined, and loving woman. The heart and soul of the Buendia family will make her debut on the small screen in Netflix’s adaptation.

José Arcadio
Marco González is a Caleño actor who portrays José Arcadio, the patriarch of the Buendia family. Gonzalez is known for his roles in the film La hora fría, as well as in the series Manolito Gafotas and Hospital Central. His character not only captures the magic of Gabo’s work but also reflects the intensity of a man defined by his passions.
González brings to life a strong and unwavering figure, considered as a scholar whose passion for science and alchemy helped him found the wonderful town of Macondo. With this performance, the actor takes on an iconic role, representing Colombian talent in the acting scene.
Ella Becerra

Ella Becerra is a Colombian actress and performing arts teacher, graduated from the Superior Academy of Arts in Bogotá. Throughout her career, Ella has made her mark in productions such as Rigo, El paseo de Teresa, El Gran Bingo, Los Futbolistas, and Distrito Salvaje. As a co-founder of La Maldita Vanidad Theater, she has played a key role in promoting the performing arts in Colombia.
Ella will play Petronila, a character who must confront disappointment and loss. She is a complex and fascinating figure, representing a key woman in the narrative, whose emotional evolution will be crucial to the development of the story.

Pilar Ternera
Viña Machado is a Colombian model and television actress who has established herself in the entertainment industry. She is known for her roles in telenovelas such as Enfermeras, El man es Germán, El general Naranjo, and La ley secreta. Machado has also extended her talent internationally, appearing in several music videos by Mexican singer Paulina Rubio. In this adaptation, Viña Machado represent Pilar Ternera, a fortune teller and second matriarch of the Buendía family. Pilar is a woman of great strength and passion, and one of the most beloved characters in the Buendía saga. Through her performance, Machado captures the essence of this figure, with her struggles and transformative power.
