Colombia leads the world in avian biodiversity; it is home to 1.889 species (171 of these are unique to Colombia), or 20 % of all bird species on Earth.

Evidence of this is that during The Global Big Day, a day when experts and bird lovers try to register the greatest number of bird species seen or heard during that one day, Colombia won the title for the second time in a row as the country where most species were seen.

Therefore, it is no surprise that the VIII South American Bird Fair will take place in Colombia.  The South American Bird Fair is the most important of its kind in the continent, and it takes place in a different country every year. For the 2018 edition, the fair will take place from November 1st to November 5th in Caldas, Colombia. This event is open to all bird and nature lovers and will be the perfect opportunity to, not only learn more about this niche and meet other bird watchers, but also experience bird watching in Colombia for yourself.
