A helicopter ride over the lush Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the world’s highest coastal mountain range.
Helicopter expedition to the lost city
Ride over the lush Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the world’s highest coastal mountain range, in a helicopter. First, catch a glimpse of the Sierra Nevada’s snow-capped peaks, which reach an altitude of 5,775 m only 42 km from the Caribbean Sea. Then, hover over Ciudad Perdida (The Lost City), the remarkable archeological remains of an ancient city built by the Tayrona tribe in 800 AD—650 years before Machu Picchu! Ciudad Perdida was the center of the Tayrona civilization, and is currently only accessible by foot on a 3-4-day hike departing from Santa Marta.
You'll land in a coffee plantation where you'll learn about the coffee production process and enjoy a coffee tasting session. Continue to Mendihuaca, near Tayrona National park, and take a car to Don Diego River. After a short trek, travel down the river by paddle boarding, kayaking, or tubing all the way down to the ocean. Along the way you'll enjoy the views of the jungle, exotic birds, howler monkeys, and small Caymans, which are harmless and very shy!
The helicopter will be waiting to take you to a private villa by the ocean where you can relax in luxury.
