An hour and a half north of Socorro, on the road to Bucaramanga, we find the Chicamocha National Park (Panachi), where visitors can see goats and ostriches as well as other wildlife. The Monumento de Santandereanidad is there and there are cable cars, too. The park has a cable car that travels almost 4 miles, crossing the Rio Chicamocha river valley.

Have you ever asked yourself what it would be like to see one of the most striking landforms in the world?

Come find out at Chicamocha Canyon, the second largest canyon in the world, whose astounding depths of over 6560 feet will captivate you.

Chicamocha Canyon, which was one of the locations selected for the 2009 campaign to select the seven natural wonders of the world, is about an hour from the city of Bucaramanga, in the department of Santander.

This tourist destination is one of the most beautiful in the country, and is home to Chicamocha National Park, where you can connect with nature and enjoy a wide range of sports and cultural activities.

If you're a fan of adventure or extreme sports, you can paraglide over 3280 feet high through the heart of this magnificent canyon. As you skim through the air over the Chicamocha Canyon, you'll witness both its immensity and the incomparable beauty of Santander's landscape and vast mountains.

You'll also sail over the Mesa de los Santos and the municipalities of Cepitá, Aratoca, and Jordán.

If you're looking for your next adventure, you should check out the Cable Vuelo, one of the park's main attractions. It's made up of three ziplines that you can descend at about 31 miles per hour while admiring the depth and beauty of Chicamocha Canyon from above.

For an even better view, travel to the park's summit. There, you'll have an unimpeded 360 degree view of the park in all its glory. You can actually get there by taking a "chiva," a type of bus that exemplifies Colombian culture and is only used in rural areas of the country. The bright colors and playful designs that characterize these unusual vehicles' paintjobs reflect the fun, joyful attitude of the Colombian people.

The park also has fun activities for children in places like the Granja de Paco or the Parque Infantil where boys and girls can interact with animals like goats and capybaras and enjoy their own unforgettable adventure in Chicamocha Canyon. We'll see you there!
