Located 80 km northeast of Tunja and with an average temperature of 10 ºC, Sogamoso is a municipality in central Boyacá, Colombia that flourishes in the territory where members of the Muisca culture worshipped the sun. The name of the city, founded on September 6, 1810, reflects pride in its indigenous roots: Sogamoso comes from the word Suamox - which means 'abode of the Sun'.
