The National Coffee Festival began to be celebrated in the municipality of Calarcá since the year 1.96. On December 2, 2.004, it was declared a Tourist Resource and Cultural Heritage of the department of Quindío through ordinance No.0033. The Festivities are celebrated at the end of June each year. They begin with a cultural week, the National Coffee Queen Pageant, recreational events in the framework of the square, the zonal theater meeting, among others, and a cavalcade that initiates the festivities. Part of the festivities is the arrival of candidates to the pageant and the different activities of it, including the queens' parade on the Saturday of the last weekend with a bridge in June. Calarcá is located 7 km from Armenia, the capital of the department of Quindío.
