COLOMBIA
The House of the Comuneros, located in the southwestern corner of the Bolívar Square in Bogotá, is named to honor the revolutionary spirit that was born in El Socorro in 1781 in territories that are now part of the Department of Santander. The historian Juan Flórez Ocáriz, author of “Genealogies of the New Kingdom of Granada,” was the owner of this house in 1654.
