The Free Theater, established in 1973, grew from the theater group at the University of the Andes. The non-profit organization has two locations: one in the neighborhood of La Candelaria, the historical center of Bogotá, with a 200-spectator capacity; the other in the locality of Chapinero, with a 650-spectator capacity. The International Jazz Festival is held every year at the theater’s Chapinero headquarters.
