COLOMBIA
The history of the textile industry in Colombia has its roots in Medellín, dating back to 1907, when Coltejer was founded, the textile company that drove the development of fashion in this city.
Since then, it became the pioneering company of a sector that has developed intensely and now boasts numerous prestigious companies and renowned designers excelling on the most important runways in the world.
Through hard work, an important cultural and artisanal heritage, and the creativity of Colombian designers and entrepreneurs, the country has positioned itself as one of the outstanding leaders in the region in the fashion and textile production industry.
Since 1990, Medellín has found a commercial platform that gives special visibility to the work of all designers, both new and established, to promote and support the development of their brands and businesses.
Thus, Colombiamoda, an event by the Institute for Export and Fashion (Inexmoda), is the most important in this industry in Latin America. Currently, the number of visitors exceeds 60,000 entries over the three days of the fair. More than 1,700 international buyers and 6,000 national buyers come to Medellín for this Fashion Week to establish business relationships with the country or take unique pieces for their wardrobes and fashion stores.
This space has established itself as a unique event in Latin America where numerous experiences are offered, business is conducted, and fashion styles, trends, and commerce are studied.
This experiential fair offers specialized buyers and the general public different options and products related to the world of fashion. The various formats offered by the event make it unique compared to other fashion events available at a continental level.
During the Commercial Showcase, more than 500 exhibiting brands gather, connecting with over 12,000 specialized buyers from 39 countries, ensuring economic movement and investment.
The Fashion Runway Shows (fashion shows) are the most interesting stages for the public. The fair features fifty moments, including the shows and presentations of designers and brands that, with their originality, talent, and style, captivate visitors and the more than three hundred media outlets covering Fashion Week.
Colombiamoda e-Commerce is the space where visitors can find digital activities with solutions that enrich the world of digital commerce, traffic, and social media to boost sales of fashion-related products.
The Concept Market is a pavilion that hosts seventy thousand people during the fair, featuring a large multi-brand store. There, fashion lovers can buy special design products and discover and recognize their favorite brands.
The Knowledge pavilion hosts more than 10,000 visitors to hear from fashion industry experts in various discussions and forums. In these spaces, studies and experiences defining trends are presented, which specialized buyers can use as a guide when making purchases. Exhibitions on the impact of technology and sustainability in the fashion sector are also common.
At the fair, there is an atmosphere of creativity and entrepreneurship highlighting innovative business models that are eco-friendly.
Colombiamoda is the most important fair in Latin America with a unique spirit fueled by the hospitality and kindness of a modern city that has long vibrated with the inner world of aesthetics and recognizes the uniqueness of human beauty.
