Necoclí is part of the eleven municipalities of the Urabá subregion in the Department of Antioquia. In this land, the culture of Medellín – Paisa – blends with the tradition of the Atlantic Coast, creating a unique culture that welcomes travelers all year round.

The indigenous Cuna descend from this culture; they currently live in indigenous reserves located in the Darién region, in Urabá Antioqueño and Chocoano, and in Panamá.
How to get there?
To get to Necoclí, you must travel from Medellín by land for approximately eight hours, crossing the landscapes of the mountain range until reaching Urabá. Ninety-five kilometers of beaches on the Caribbean Sea and 14 medicinal mud volcanoes are the main tourist attractions of this place, where many travelers stay before ending their trip in Capurganá.
The municipality offers a varied range of hotels where you will experience, without exception, the famous hospitality of the Antioqueños. You will feel right at home.
The local cuisine is based on the star products of the area: bananas, plantains, and seafood. You will find sweets, cakes, and many other products made from bananas, which are grown on more than a million hectares in this territory.

Its name refers to the tribute the town pays to fishermen. The “Festival Nacional del Bullerengue” has been celebrated here, a festival held in memory of the African men who arrived on the Isla de Barú and continued on to the lands of Córdoba and Urabá, passing down their songs of freedom and the sound of tamboras from generation to generation.
- El Turista is another beach in Necoclí with a beautiful view of the Caribbean Sea and an intense blue color. It’s one of the most visited beaches in the area. It’s ideal for spending the night chatting on the shore and enjoying a typical aperitif at the bars to the sound of reggae music.
- El Totumo is the main corregimiento of Necoclí and, for many, an unknown paradise, perfect for enjoying the sea without crowds. It’s located 20 kilometers to the south. This virgin beach is of great beauty with gentle waves, and it is characterized by its lower salinity compared to other beaches, due to its proximity to the mouth of the Río Atrato.
- Playa Linda or Mirador is a beach surrounded by lush green jungle vegetation, creating a very colorful contrast that’s perfect for photography. It’s generally solitary and quiet.
- In the El Lechugal district, you will find Playa Bobalito, an area where hundreds of turtles come to lay their eggs in March and May. Through the turtle protection association Acaetour, you can take a tour to be amazed and moved by the spectacle of the birth of four species of little sea turtles.
Other stretches of sand to enjoy the warm climate and sea breeze of the Caribbean can be found at Playa Mulatos, Zapata, Cañaflechal, and Casablanca.
