The Corota Island Wildlife Sanctuary, with 35 acres of land and 10 acres of water, is the smallest of the country's nature reserve system and belongs to the National Parks of Colombia. The Sanctuary is in the La Cocha lagoon and can be reached by boat from the village of El Encano. Herons, hummingbirds, and butterflies live in the sanctuary, and it contains a trail to a scenic viewpoint.
