The mouths of the Bita, Meta, and Orinoco rivers are spots near Puerto Carreño where it is possible to see pink river dolphins. These mammals, which are endemic to the Orinoquia and the Amazonia—where they are called toninas—can sometimes reach two and a half meters in length. They usually swim in groups of about 25 as they chase schools of fish they feed on.
