A place that captivates with its authenticity is the Nemocón Salt Mine, which is reached in thirty minutes from Zipaquirá. There, 80 meters underground, travelers walk through 1,600 meters of tunnels where between 1816 and 1968, approximately eight million tons of salt were extracted. The 28 brine mirrors are striking, in which salt rocks were dissolved, creating an impressive optical effect.

In the Chapel chamber, there is a massive 1,300-kilogram stone sphere that symbolizes the world. Another major attraction is the 1,600-kilogram salt crystal, carved in the shape of a heart in the 60s by miner Miguel Sánchez. Along the tour, visitors can see stalactites and stalagmites, and there is even an ecological trail, an auditorium, and a geology room.
