A journey of four to six hours from Pereira, Colombia to the east is required to reach the Parque Nacional Natural Los Nevados. In this 58,300-hectare nature reserve, you can enjoy activities such as mountain biking, ice climbing, and rock climbing. Some of the birds that inhabit the park include the páramo hummingbird (endemic to the region), the crested eagle, the Andean duck, the red-breasted partridge, and the condor.

In the Parque Nacional Natural Los Nevados, you will find the El Cisne visitor center, located at 4,050 meters above sea level, making it one of the highest mountain shelters in Colombia. This park, with its towering Andean peaks, is located within the departments of Caldas, Risaralda, Quindío, and Tolima. The snow-capped peaks Quindío, Santa Isabel, El Cisne, El Ruiz, and Tolima, all rising above 4,800 meters above sea level, form the National Park, home to unique species found nowhere else in the world.

The visitor center is strategically located along the Manizales – Brisas – Villamaría circuit, whose stunning landscape integrates ecosystems of forest, páramo, superpáramo, and nival zones, passing through moraines that resemble lunar landscapes. Additionally, the Otún Lagoon offers a serene view. The park allows for a wide variety of recreational and high-altitude sports activities.

Visitor services in the Parque Los Nevados are mainly concentrated in the northern sector, at key points such as Brisas, Chalet Arenales, and Refugio del Ruiz.
