Puerto Nariño

If you're looking for a peaceful corner to immerse yourself in the unparalleled atmosphere of the Colombian tropical rainforest, it's hard to imagine a more perfect place than Puerto Nariño. On a small cove on the shores of the mighty Amazon, this village surrounded by lush virgin rainforest and free of vehicles, large buildings, or worries will welcome you with open arms.

The tranquility is so extreme that pink dolphins are not afraid to approach the dock to frolic, and macaws fly over groups of children playing outdoors.

In addition to its natural beauty, Puerto Nariño is an excellent place to learn about the diverse Amazonian cultures, as it is home to the Tikuna, Cocama, and Yagua ethnic groups.

During the day, you can paddle on the waters of Tarapoto Lake or cross the jungle to visit nearby communities. At night, you can enjoy typical dishes and delight in the stories of the inhabitants of this magical place.

Many people are so enchanted with life in this community that they decide to stay longer than planned, so, just in case, don't rush to buy your return ticket to Leticia.

Attractions and Experiences

Tarapoto Lake

Few natural experiences in Colombia can compare to the sight of pink dolphins leaping and playing in the dark waters of Tarapoto Lake, nestled amidst dense vegetation. A short boat ride from Puerto Nariño, you'll discover this privileged spot where you can observe the fauna of the Colombian Amazon-Orinoquia. The lake can be explored by canoe, although it's also a good idea to walk the trails around it to get a closer view of the various bird species that inhabit the treetops. If your priority is observing native wildlife, morning is the ideal time, but don't miss the sunset on the lake, as it is a spectacle worth witnessing.

Nature, Wildlife

Naipata Viewpoint

Naipata means "house in the tree" in Tikuna language, and it's a fitting name for this viewpoint which, at eighteen meters high, is located on the hill behind Puerto Nariño and offers panoramic views of the town and its surrounding jungle. From the heights, you can see the Amazon and Loretoyacu rivers, Correo Lake, and the Zancudillo stream. The presence of vegetation wherever you look is a constant reminder of how remote this part of the country is.
