COLOMBIA
Both the church and the monastery of San Pedro Claver were built in the early 17th century by the Jesuit religious community. Its name is a tribute to San Pedro Claver, who fought for the underdog, the oppressed, and the liberation of slaves. The missionary lived and died in the convent next to the church, and his remains are preserved in an urn on the high altar.
