A must-see site in Bolivar Square is the Catedral Primada, Bogotá's first church, which was erected in 1539 by order of the city's founder, Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada. The chapel of Santa Isabel de Hungría, one of the 12 chapels of the temple, holds the remains of national historical figures such as Antonio Nariño, Gregorio Vásquez de Arce y Ceballos and Jiménez de Quesada himself.
